Best Of Voting starts May 11

Voting will open for the HomeTown News’ 7th Annual Best Of Readers’ Poll on Friday, May 11 at noon. Readers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite local restaurants, businesses, organizations and places in more than 90 categories.

The annual Best Of issue is a chance to highlight and recognize the best of the community of Westchester, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Marina del Rey and surrounding areas.

Voting will end on Friday, June 29, and the winners will be revealed in our Thursday, August 2 issue.

Locals Only art show celebrates best of Playa del Rey

Culver Boulevard’s Clean Aesthetic might be the hippest shop on the block due to the hard work and creative sensibilities of co-owners Aaron Rosenstock, Matt Rheault and Charlie Carroll.

Once a traditional surf and skate shop known for selling t-shirts with original designs, the shop is now attracting the attention of people, both locally and citywide, looking to buy one-of-a-kind pieces of art and prints that celebrate life, Los Angeles and the community of Playa del Rey. The HomeTown News is proud to present its Fourth Annual Best Of Readers’ Poll! Show your support for your favorite businesses, restaurants, events and hot spots by voting today. Our Readers’ Poll is about celebrating local small businesses in the Westchester, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Del Rey and Marina del Rey areas!

In the first round of voting, readers nominated their favorites in each category. The top three vote-getters in each category have now moved on to our final round of voting and our readers will choose who takes this year’s Best Of titles!

This survey contains more than 90 categories and should take about ten minutes to complete. While you don’t have to vote for everything on this list, you must vote in at least five categories.

Business News: Cinemark Playa Vista set to open March 12

Cinemark Playa Vista set to open. The community’s newest movie theater, Cinemark Playa Vista, will open on Thursday, March 12. The theater will feature 9 wall-to-wall screens, electric-powered luxury recliners and a full bar and lounge. Reserve level seating includes luxury seating with tables, private balcony access and a cocktail lounge with an indoor/outdoor area.

Chamber honors member anniversaries and business at City of Angels event


The LAX Coastal Chamber celebrated four champions of public service, philanthropy, the media and transportation at its eighth annual City of Angels gala on Wednesday, November 5. The business organization, which has more than 500 members from Westchester, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Marina del Rey and surrounding communities, holds the yearly event to recognize individuals, companies and organizations that have helped make a meaningful and positive impact on Los Angeles.
