More than 1,300 runners braved a forecast of rain and headed to Loyola Marymount University on Saturday, March 10 to raise money for local education at the inaugural Rock Roll & Run 5K. Hosted by the LAX Coastal Education Foundation in partnership with LMU, the event continued the tradition of the Race for Success, and brought 18 K-12 schools, community groups and local businesses together for a fun morning of exercise, rock and roll music and a little friendly competition.
Looking to reinforce our community’s support of local schools, a group of parents and business leaders have embarked on a new mission to support all of the schools in Westchester and Playa del Rey.
This week, the group formally announced the formation of the LAX Coastal Education Foundation (LAXCEF), a nonprofit serving all schools in the area, including public, private, parochial, charter and magnet schools. Continue reading

Twenty-four local teachers, who were selected by their peers and administrators, will be honored at the 2016 Teacher Eddy Awards on Tuesday, May 11, hosted by the LAX Coastal Chamber. At the event, the teachers will be presented with crystal eddy awards and a slideshow in their honor. They will also have the chance to take home raffle prizes donated by local businesses, including plane tickets to anywhere United flies, courtesy of Rainbow Acres Washington Blvd. Note: Click on the images to enlarge them.
