Get ready to Rock, Roll and Run for Education!

Feb 12, 2018

The LAX Coastal Education Foundation, in partnership with Loyola Marymount University, is hosting the inaugural Rock, Roll and Run 5K/1K run/walk for Education on the campus of LMU on Saturday, March 10.

After Race for Success organizers announced that their annual 5K at LMU would not be happening in 2018, the newly formed foundation decided to create the Rock, Roll and Run for Education to help continue the tradition of a run that brings local schools and the community together for a day of fun to raise money for education.

The race will have a rock and roll theme, with live music at two locations along the course. Teams are encouraged to come in costumes, especially those that are music-related (think 80s metal band, famous musicians, disco, etc). After the race, attendees are encouraged to stay for the expo featuring businesses and community groups, a pancake breakfast, live music and family-friendly activities.

The event runs 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the 5K at 8 a.m. and the 1K at 10 a.m. The cost to participate is $30 for the 5K and $20 for the kids’ 1K. A pancake breakfast is $5 per person (while supplies last). If you can’t make it on race day but would still like to support local education, you can sign-up as a “virtual runner” for $10.

Proceeds from the race will go back to participating local schools. Major event sponsors include Los Angeles World Airports, the Drollinger Family Charitable Foundation, the Hannon Foundation, the HomeTown News, Rainbow Acres Washington Blvd. and the Stephanie Younger Group.
